About McBurney’s Insurance Broker
After returning from overseas as a Captain in World War I, he settled on a family farm on Cambie Road in Richmond and became a Wawanesa representative to augment his farming income.
He was active in local politics and later as an elected official on the Richmond School Board. He was also involved in the Royal Canadian Legion. Then, beginning in 1921 and continuing until the early sixties, Mr. McBurney started and ran McBurney Insurance himself.
In the early sixties, McBurney’s Insurance was located on the present site of Staples in the former Food Fair building. In 1978 a new shopping centre was built and McBurney’s established itself within the mall at #1 6340 No. 3 Road— where you can still visit us today.
McBurney’s previous partners (now retired) were Charlie Hughes, Gordon Billings, and Terry Graham.
