The founder of Taylor Insurance, Doug Taylor Sr., was an integral part of the Matsqui community. He held the position of Mayor of Matsqui from 1967 to 1975, and the position of Alderman for another 4 years (finished 1980). He also had a hand in bringing many services we enjoy today to Abbotsford, like the Seven Oaks Mall, MSA Arena and Clearbrook Ice Arena. He was a key player in the development of the Townline BlueJay area which is more than 1500 homes. He brought fire hydrants and city water to 80% of the rural areas in the 1960’s. Doug Taylor Sr. was an all star Municipal politician that had the foresight and backbone to get things done and cared for the people in the community; he built Taylor Insurance using the same morals and compassion that he carried through his political career.

In 1998 Doug Jr. took over running the business, and though many things have changed over the years, he has made a conscious effort to keep true to Taylor Insurance’s family run roots. Taylor Insurance is proud to be one of the few individually owned and operated insurance offices still running. Taylor Insurance is proud to still be a part of Mt. Lehman, servicing the public on it’s own land for over 60 years!
